I always found it difficult to find unusual art or pieces for the home that would
create an individual look. Unusual, hand painted art that I saw was too expensive
and I wanted something else, something different. I didn’t want the canvas art
or wall decor offered by high street stores or what I saw in catalogues, it may be
in fashion now but I wanted something that wouldn’t date, something I could look
at and admire for many years.
The idea for my canvas art came after a holiday in Spain. The vibrant colours
around me, the immaculately dressed children playing in the street gave me
the inspiration I needed. I wanted to create some beautiful wall art for my
daughters room, I wanted this wall art to reflect what I originally saw in Spain,
it had to be eye-catching, colourful and unique.
Could I create this ? Could I create quality artwork that would be good
enough for a gallery to display?
When I first started, I experimented with lots of shapes, materials, colours, textures.
It would take time but I had to be 100% happy. Thankfully, I am pretty patient and
if a particular design didn’t work, I would persevere until I achieved exactly the
look I wanted. I now have some exciting and original creations and I will be adding
new designs throughout the year.
