Welcome to the Craft on Canvas blog which will give a ‘behind the scenes’ look at a business that has been started out of a love of home interiors. It will also give tips and advice on how to achieve a great look in a room without spending a fortune.

I started Craft on Canvas with the aim of creating unique room decor for those who want to give their home an individual look. The wall art I create is handmade and hand painted using artist quality materials.

I am not a trained interior designer but have a passion for art and home interiors, I love to find unusual accessories that make a room special and individual. If you are looking for something unusual and unique there are many designer/makers in the UK producing some beautiful products that you wouldn’t find on the high street and my blog will show some of the products available and where

to buy. Although I don’t tend to follow trends and go with what’s in fashion I still like to keep up to date on styles and colours.

I have designed and created some gorgeous handmade headbands for girls of all ages. After creating headbands for my daughters to co-ordinate with their outfits I realised what a difference this accessory can make.

Each flower is hand stitched and I have created the flower in a way that will allow you to adjust the flower on the headband. The flower sits securely on the headband, however you can twist the flower so you are able to see it (rather than it face upwards). This flexibility is great as you can choose to have 1 or more flowers on the headbands.

We must all be aware of the amount of goods that come from overseas, it seems that whatever we shop for these days most products are made elsewhere, not the U.K.

Why is this? I’m sure we are very capable of producing goods without the need to import everything.

I LOVE SHOES! I have to say I am a big fan of Italian and Spanish shoes and don’t mind paying the extra money for the quality I am getting. I don’t think I have ever picked up a pair of shoes (and I’ve definately picked up lots!) that have been made in the U.K. If I do have to buy from overseas then I would rather buy from our neighbours and would hope that British goods have an excellent reputation in Europe too.

We should take pride in this country and realise that we do produce some excellent goods. Wallpaper has made a big comeback and gone are the days when wallpaper seemed old fashioned and outdated.
There are some striking designs which can transform a room and having a feature wall can make a big statement in a room.

There is a fantastic choice of wallpapers around but try and choose a design that won’t date, you will hopefully be happy to see your wallpaper for quite a few years so take your time and choose wisely.

If you are re-designing a room and are looking for inspiration take a trip to your local diy store to browse wallpaper designs or browse online, once you start to find styles that you really like you can then take inspiration from the pattern and colours of the wallpaper.

Designs for Christmas

Christmas seems to come round quicker and quicker each year and each year I vow to get everything done well in advance so there are no last minute panics. Will I ever be organised and ready for Christmas? I doubt it but I will keep trying.

I have designed and created some gorgeous cushions for the home, they are made using a high quality wool mix fabric or a red cotton twill fabric. There a some fun and friendly Rudolf cushions, he will add a unique touch to a chair or sofa! The gorgeous Christmas pudding cushion is one of my favourites viagra and can be created on a red, cream or camel colour fabric, whatever suits your own room decor!
I love the Christmas snowman cushion, he is very friendly and each year will make you smile wherever he is! The poinsettia cushion is lovely and can be personalised to make the most adorable gift. Every cushion I make has a 3D effect which makes it unique and individual.

I recently went to a large garden centre and had a look at the christmas cushions they had on sale there. I have to say, I wasn’t impressed, as is the norm these days they were made in China and were not of a very good quality. I am sure there are many people here in the U.K who would prefer to pay extra for quality and for something that is made here in the U.K. I wish there were more outlets around the country promoting the best of British and showing what excellent products you can purchase here in England.
